Hike at Skuleberget

The High Coast pathway to the top of the World Heritage site is considered one of Sweden’s most beautiful trails. This 2.5 km scenic path is suitable for most people. The most common way down is via the cableway trail (1.3 km). Here are some tips that might be helpful before you set of on your journey.

Skulebergets Cableway lift

If you want to glide through the treetops or don’t have the opportunity to hike, Skuleberget’s Cableway lift is a wonderful alternative. Of course, you can also combine hiking up the Höga Kusten Trail and taking the cable car down. Here you will find all the information you need.

Via Ferrata Mountain Climbing

On Skuleberget’s eastern side, you will find one of Europe’s largest Via Ferrata facilities with its wire-secured climbing routes. Choose from four different difficulty levels. An experience to remember for a long time.

Yes, it will be wonderful, regardless of the weather, and you will manage it. You will truly be so satisfied when you sit there at the top and gaze out. You will probably think, “Why don’t we do this more often?”

Getting here
Take the exit sign towards “FriluftsByn” on the E4 highway just north of Docksta. (Approximately 20 minutes south of Örnsköldsvik) There is a large parking lot at FriluftsByn.

Hiking up
The High Coast Trail (2.5 km) starts directly from the parking lot at FriluftsByn. You will also find maps and more information at FriluftsByn’s Visitor Center.

At the top
Enjoy some of Sweden’s most beautiful views. Don’t miss walking over to the northern viewpoint, where you will also find a marker showing the previous sea level.

Hiking down
You can, of course, hike back on the High Coast Trail, as the feeling is quite different, and you get to enjoy the beautiful views once again. Alternatively, you can follow the cableway trail (1.3 km) from the top down to the cabin Dalstugan and then walk 600 meters back to the parking lot.
