At the south side of Skuleberget and right in the middle of FriluftsByn, you will find Restaurant Vardagsrummet – filled with local flavors and beverages. With its two floors and spacious terrace with evening sun, this has become a very popular place – both among us who live in the High Coast and those of you who come to visit.

Combine your visit with some free mini-golf on our quirky courses. During the summer, we alternate between keeping Vardagsrummet and Burgers & Beer open in our courtyard. This is something that is highly appreciated among our regulars, as it gives you, as a visitor, two completely different experiences when you are here.

The name “Vardagsrummet” came quite naturally. Because that’s exactly what it is – “Vardagsrummet” translates to “The Living Room” in swedish.

Opening hours

In June, restaurant Vardagsrummet is open on weekends, while in July and August, we alternate between keeping Vardagsrummet open and arranging Burgers & Beer in our courtyard. If you’re craving something at other times, you can head down to cafe FriluftsFiket.

June

In June, we open with a sneak preview on Friday, June 2nd, and Saturday, June 3rd. After that, we’re in full swing from week 24.

Pre-summer evenings

We open Restaurant Vardagsrummet on Fridays and Saturdays in June. Many of our guests live in the area, while others are here for a weekend or an early vacation. What makes us happy is that many companies and organizations choose to have their summer parties with us, and we also host numerous birthday celebrations and festivities.

A child-friendly restaurant:

In FriluftsByn, everyone feels at home, from friend groups from Södermalm to curious seniors from Lycksele, and around the camping area, you’ll find active families with children. Therefore, we have made sure that children also have a great time. “Wild Kids” is a favorite, but if they prefer something else, children under 12 years old get half price on main courses. We also enjoy good food, preferably locally sourced. To maintain that commitment, we have put together a concise menu that we vary according to the season. At the bar, you will find local whisky, gin, rum, and beer – as well as, of course, non-alcoholic alternatives.

The Wind Shelter that got out-of-control.

Somewhere around 2018, we got the idea to create awesome place where we would love to hang out and, of course, invite more people to join us.

The idea was named “Vardagsrummet” because it was not only a living room we needed but also exactly how we wanted it to feel. It should feel like coming home to us at FriluftsByn.

Once the idea was born, I started sketching a robust wind shelter, but it gradually spiraled out of control. From initially planning a single floor, the inspiration struck, and I decided to add a second floor. Then, it felt only natural to include a spacious terrace. Before I knew it, I found myself googling “really big disco ball,” – which was available in Amsterdam.

Thanks to incredibly resourceful craftsmen, colleagues, and friends, we were able to bring this ambitious project to life and open our doors in February 2021. During the summer, this is the place where people come to enjoy really good food, sip on delicious drinks, and simply have that wonderfully laid-back summer feeling.

Two floors…

Vardagsrummet has two cozy floors. The atmosphere is relaxed, with some guests residing in the area while others arrive with their family and friends.

Some are dressed in shirts, while others sport t-shirts and shorts, embracing the summer vibe. Most come to enjoy a meal, while others swing by the bar and settle down on the sunny deck.

This is how cozy it can be at the south side of Skuleberget. Table reservations are made indoors, but you can, of course, choose to move out to our terrace with evening sun.

We started building a slightly larger wind shelter, and suddenly, we had a restaurant!

Dinner for two, a group of friends, or the whole family. A perfect evening.

You understand that we get quite happy when Vardagsrummet has become a popular hangout among the locals.

Since we have the perfect location for evening sun, we built a spacious terrace. Table reservations are made indoors, but you are welcome to move outside if you feel like it.

Adventure during the day. Dinner in the evening. We have showers on the premises.

Those who have been here come back for the good food and relaxed atmosphere.
